Johnstown Symphony Orchestra

 James Blachly was named the 12th Music Director of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra in 2016. Over the course of his directorship, concerts are frequently sold out, and the orchestra’s budget has increased more than 150% on balanced budgets. His innovative concerts and welcoming approach have drawn new audiences, and the JSO’s Mill Concerts were featured in Symphony Magazine and on Katie Couric’s America Inside Out.

In commemorating his tenure with the orchestra, the Tribune Democrat published an editorial stating “James Blachly has been a gift to Johnstown, his passion and imagination a blessing for his Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and our region.”
