As a way of fundraising for the El Sistema-model program I’m helping to create in New Orleans, I will be conducting Mahler’s First Symphony at Trinity Church Wall Street on July 30th at 4pm. Tickets are a donation of $20 or more, and can be purchased at the door, and we’ll have them available on this website within the next three days. The concert is building on the success of last year, which was reviewed in the Times.

We are determined to fill the church with supporters of this extremely worthy and exciting cause, and the concert will be preceded by a short talk about All Souls and the Lower Ninth Ward by one the communities most knowledgeable supporters. The event will be followed by a champagne reception, at which concert-goers can meet dozens of volunteers who have worked in the Lower Ninth Ward and who passionately support the project.
